Dr. Wei Hu is originally from Shanghai, China. He graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University Medical School and received his doctoral degree in neuroscience from Heinrich Heine University of Dusseldorf, Germany in 2005. Afterwards he did postdoctoral research in Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and then a clinical-research training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He recently completed Movement Disorders fellowship training at the University of Florida. Dr. Hu is the recipient of a Harvard Medical School-Partners Fellow scholarship and a coveted clinical-research training award from the American Brain Foundation/American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Hu joined the Department of Neurology in 2018 as an Assistant Professor in the Movement Disorders & Neurorestoration division. He is interested in Parkinson disease, dystonia, telemedicine, and neuromodulation techniques such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

Dr. Hu is also Director of the new UF Health International Center. The mission of the UF Health International Center is to increase the global visibility of UF Health as a destination for health care, and to ensure an outstanding experience for international patients seeking care at UF Health, as well as for international physicians seeking education and collaboration.
